Be the Positive Influence For Others – Lead by Example

Be the Positive Influence For Others – Lead by Example

Happy Positive Influence Week!

On day 2, I want to talk about how to become the positive influence for others and yes… it starts with you! I will challenge you to lead by example. If you want to be a positive influence, you must be positive and live your life in a positive way.

“A great leader doesn’t create followers… A great leader creates more great leaders.”

In order to do this, you must change how you live your life if it’s not already a positive one.

To Help Others… You Must Start With Helping Yourself

Something I’ve come to realize is the fact that if we want to help others in a positive way, we must start focusing on self-improvement on our own.

Think about the word love. Everything about love. Giving it. Receiving it.

Now think to yourself, how can you possibly give or receive love if you don’t understand what love is?

I’ll take it one step further… how can you give or receive love if you do not even love yourself?

The answer is… you can’t. Simple as that.

So in order for us to effectively help others and become a positive influence for others, we must BE that positive influence.

Live your life on the same path as the words you speak.

If you talk about health, happiness, and prosperity, than you should be living your life healthy, happy, and with prosperity.

We should spend more time on improving ourselves so we can EFFECTIVELY help others.

There are so many people that will sit there and say… I don’t have time for all that. I have a busy enough schedule as it is. Well… my advice to you is MAKE time. You are sitting here reading this article so you obviously have some time.

Even if it’s a couple times a day coming to Manifest All Things. That shows that you are making a conscious effort to improving yourself. I am not asking you to find hours a day to do these things.

I am asking you to make a conscious effort to improve yourself. That could be 10 minutes a day.

Whatever it is… the point is to always strive to become the best possible version of yourself!

And understand that you are not just improving yourself for YOU. You’re also improving yourself for OTHERS. Not everything is ALWAYS about you…

Show You Genuinely Care

I cannot stress enough on how important this is!!

Show people you care about helping them.

Help them and do not EXPECT anything in return.

Too many times I see someone help someone because they think they will get something in return. They tell them self… “if I help this person, they will help me.”

Doing this is NOT being genuine.

Doing something without expecting the favor or help will be reciprocated is the definition of being genuine.

When I help someone, I do not think about what I will get out of it. I don’t think to myself… “well, even if they do not help me in return, at least I’m sending good karma out there.”

NO. NO. NO.

Remove expectation and you will uncover the term genuine. You will remove any doubt that you are not being genuine.

Here’s a thought…

The next time you help someone… remove the thoughts about what you will receive in return.

It will be hard if you haven’t done this before because all you want to think about is helping them than you will instantly think about receiving something.

How about this. You just got the feeling of love. You just helped someone and didn’t get anything in return. Odds are, you still feel good because you helped someone with something they needed help with.

To give you a personal story…

About 5 years ago, I was working at Starbucks and I would have the most odd hours you could imagine.

I would wake up at 3am to get to the store by 3:30am so we could open at 4am.

Worked from 3:30am until noon.

So after my shift one day, I was on my way home.

On my way home I was stopped on a one way street because an elderly man was crossing the road. It was raining and he was carrying some bags.

I had no idea what he was carrying but as he crossed the street, he dropped one of his bags.

So I instantly jumped out of my car to help him pick his bag up and help him the rest of the way, across the street.

Every car around was honking and yelling at this man.

I finished walking him across the street and quickly jumped back in my car and drove home.

I could have just sat there and watched him struggle. Walking across the street at the pace of a snail. Honking. Frustrated at how tired I was and wanting to just get home to go to sleep.

But my instinct was to jump out and help.

You want to know what happened next? I got home and a spot in the front row at my apartment complex was open. Mind you… this spot was NEVER open because it was right in the front so it was a very popular spot.

It was the closest spot to my front door.

I will never forget this story because it was the time I thought about the law of attraction. “You reap what you sow.”

I had no intentions on helping this gentleman for a higher purpose. No expectations that I would get something in return. But that doesn’t take into consideration what the universe will grant you.

Help others without the expectation that you will receive the same in return.

“Be The Change You Wish to See”

The quote explains itself.

“Be the change you wish to see.”

This goes into the topic of leading by example.

If you want to be the positive influence for others, you must BE a positive influence.

Change your life in a positive way and help others!

I’ve said it so many times… the world does not always revolve around you. Not everything is always about you. And if you were truly a positive influence and you truly want to become a positive influence than you shouldn’t want the world to revolve around you or anyone in particular, for that matter.

Take the time to better yourself so you can effectively help others around you.

I hope you take something out of this article because I do not always share personal stories about my experiences but I felt like it was important to share in order to prove my point and paint a clear picture.

I want to thank you for taking the time to read this article because it shows that you are taking the steps to become the best possible version of yourself and I applaud you for that!

If you ever have any comments, questions, or concerns, please leave them in the designated box below. Please also share your stories. I love to hear them all!

Go out and be the change you wish to see!

Joseph

  1. I loved your article Joseph! So inspirational and love-centered!! Everything starts from the perception of the Self, doesn’t it? Let’s combine it with the Law of Attraction and the math of life is done

  2. I pretty much live by these words, and consider myself a pretty genuine gal. I think this post has a lot of information that anyone, or maybe everyone should live by. We would sure have a better world, that is for sure. Great inspiration here!

    1. Thank you for the kind words! I am trying to just bring up different thoughts and opinions to as many people as possible. If I can help one person, then I am doing something positive. We all have areas that we can ALWAYS work on.

  3. Hey Joseph, great post and website. Get inspiration and thoughts. This will be my next website on Positive Thinking and motivation as well as a YouTube channel. If you read my bio, I was an Army Ranger in Desert Storm and was injured in a bad parachute fall. Because of this injury, I had 14 surgeries and died 3 times on the operating table. I can’t exercise much but I get out and walk. On Veteran’s Day, 2017, I was hit by a commercial van while I was taking my fiance to the beach in Florida for her birthday, I sustained another neck injury and back injury having another neck fusion and a complete lower back fusion. I have just got out and started walking again. I have been on potent narcotic pain meds for over 27 years and but I have always kept a positive attitude cause I could be dead. I was raised in a totally negative household and left early cause I couldn’t handle all the negativity. My fiance tells me over and over again that she has never seen a person go through what I have been through in my life and wake up each morning and be so positive. She tells me to “shut up” sometimes because I am so positive and cheery. Sorry to be so long, but keep up the great work and writing.

    1. Danny,
Wow. What a story! You are a true inspiration and I want to thank you for sharing your story here. I think there are a lot of people that need to hear this story. Nobody should ever have to deal with everything you have been put through. Your life, your story, and your attitude is admirable and is a complete inspiration. I think its very interesting to think about things that people complain about on a daily basis… when I think about these things I was say, “it could be worse.” Perfect example is what you have had to deal with and continue to deal with on a daily basis.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. A BIG thank you for sharing this amazing story.

      With Gratitude,
      Joseph

  4. Beautiful article, I like what you say about improving ourselves so we can help others more effectively. And helping others without any expectations getting anything back. Deep stuff. I try to be positive and I actually think there are a lot of helpful people out there without any expectations getting anything back, even thou most people are not like that. Cheers!

    1. John,
Thank you for the kind words! This was a deep article that provides everyone with plenty of things to think about. A big one is something you just said. Removing expectations. It’s something we deal with on a daily basis and if we can learn to remove expectations… the world can become a more genuine place.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on this article!

      With Gratitude,
      Joseph
